Product description

What is quinoa?

Royal Quinoa ( Chenopodium quinoa Willd.) is a pseudo-cereal with high nutritional value and great agro-industrial value, grown in the inter-salar zone of the southern Altiplano of Bolivia. The crop is characterized by a remarkable tolerance to extreme abiotic conditions, including drought, frost and saline soils. Thanks to the unique agro-ecological conditions in the production area of Bolivian Royal Quinoa, the grains produced are considered unique in the world.

Royal Quinoa is naturally gluten-free and, compared to conventional cereals, has higher levels of protein, fat, fibre and ash, making it a very competitive and health-promoting food of great importance in the human diet. Its nutritional value is largely due to its high protein content, of which approximately 37% consists of essential amino acids, especially lysine, methionine, threonine and tryptophan. In addition, Royal Quinoa contains important minerals such as calcium, iron, phosphorus and zinc. It is also rich in B-complex vitamins and vitamins C and E, with higher levels of vitamins B and C than wheat. Furthermore, it contains significant amounts of carotene and niacin (vitamin B3), as well as significantly higher levels of riboflavin (vitamin B2), tocopherol (vitamin E) and carotene compared to wheat and rice.

Our Bolivian quinoa

Bolivian Royal Quinoa is an Andean grain that today has the recognition of Denomination of Origin by the countries of the Andean Community (CAN). It is also called “The Golden Grain” due to its high nutritional value and is considered a food of the past for the people of the future.
